Tutoring

Tutoring is just like it sounds, with an emphasis on what the student wants to learn. I refer to each section of study as Lessons as there is a substantial amount of information to each part of The Pottery Making Process. In place of Classes for now I will offer private Tutoring until my studio is built.
The price is determined by how far I’ll need to travel (each class) + $10 per hour + $10 Lessons being taught, with a total of four different Lesson options. Lessons are as follows Throwing (Pottery Wheel), Glazing (Color Application), Kiln Operation Knowledge, and/or Chemical Knowledge.
Pricing
(per Tutoring session)
0.55 per mile(round trip) + $10/h + $10/Lesson

Kilnshare is a service offering rentable kiln space
Wiring your own kiln can be expensive and hard to do in some suburban/city areas so there’s kilnshare. Have an experienced Potter fire your works for you.
Kiln Details
- Brand & Model: L&L Genesis model number e23T-240(with Genesis control box)
- Kiln type: Electric
- Internal size: 21″ x 25″
- Max firing temperature: Cone 7, 2264°F, 1240°C
Offering rentable kiln space per half shelf and height, half kiln, and full kiln.
I need a full understanding of what’s being used, both clay type and glazes and If I’m concerned I may ask how you applied the glazes. Some glazes run and there’s a massive difference between cone 06 and cone 6, that stands true for both clay and glazes.
My kiln will only be fired when full and I will take every precaution to monitor the firings. I’ll need your name and either your email or phone number to contact you when the firing is complete. You may sit and talk with me after loading and/or unloading/pick up, but otherwise I don’t want anyone roaming around my family’s property. Especially not unsupervised.
*Please make arrangements with me to pick up your pottery within 1 week of me contacting you about each completed firing*
I run a bisque at cone 05-04.
I run a cone 6 glaze.
If there are any glaze or clay meltdowns from “your” pieces then you may be responsible for any repairs. Please understand, this can only happen if you misread or withhold information about glaze/clay labels. I will run the kiln with witness cones for self assurance, monitoring, and so that you can keep a record of temp/heat work.
Contact me if you want to rent or know more.

Commissions

Commissions are essentially Orders.
Commission Items are made especially for the customer and are placed at the top of my to-do list. Commission items are made in my style, like some of the pieces in the image. The Only caveat is that they take time to make and between March-December they may range from 2 weeks to 2 months at the absolute most. January and February all studio work comes to a halt as freezing temperatures can easily cause disastrous issues with wet clay pots.
Why might someone want to commission pottery?
Say I have something at my booth that has the perfect color to match your kitchen, however you’re looking for something in particular. Well you can commission that item the way you, the customer, want it. Allowing you to also receive a custom piece made just for you, “bragging rights” am I right. Commissions are also great handmade gift ideas, just remember to order ahead of time.
Pricing
Begins with the item’s or various items’ prices + how many you need (1-30) + Shipping or travel + $10 commission fee/5 pieces.
I can personally accept commissions or they can be placed with Dream Creations and More LLC in Columbia, LA. (Commissions made through Dream Creations will be delivered to the store)
All Commissions must be paid for upfront.
We may need to speak over the phone to guarantee an accurate order.
If you have questions feel free to comment below, email me, or text me (with your question(s), to be clear I block
scam messages that just say “Hello”)

Outside of vendor events that offer an opportunity to sell what I make. This is a service specific to Pottery Demonstrations as a form of paid entertainment. This must be reserved a minimum of 2 weeks in advance. I will need to know the audience I’ll be demonstrating for. I’m willing to explain my process or simply mesmerize. Last but not least I’m willing to let a few people try their hand playing in clay, just know it can get messy.
The varying price is determined by how far I’ll need to drive + $10 per hour.
